“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved.” Matthew 9:17 (NLT)
If you mismatch new wine with old skins—tragedy happens. If you mismatch old wine with new skins—nothing happens! Our fear of messing up cannot be allowed to keep us from growing up. I have seen church leadership so afraid of bad things happening that they are resigned to settle for “nothing happening” as they seek to pour old wine into new skins.
A new generation of believers must be won and filled with the Spirit of God. They do not need our pre-processed spirit; They need the powerful, whole-life possessing Spirit of the Living God. AND, His Spirit in His new people must be allowed to grow. Yes it will stretch, but that is all part of the process.
ONETHING: Never let me content for nothing to happen.
The Habit of Knowledge allows faith to explore, experience, and expand. True faith can grow, must grow, will grow. Even Jesus is said to have grown “in knowledge”. We are life-long learners and faith is our teacher. Daily we experience the truths of God’s creation and through those experiences we can learn that He can be trusted.
Plus ONE: Teach me, O LORD.
